    PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICALS

A Pre-Employment Medical is a valuable tool for employers to use to identify any potential medical issues a person may have, that could cause harm to the person or colleagues they would work with if appointed to the role.

A Pre-Employment Medical is also an opportunity to baseline health assessments for employees who are exposed to hazards e.g., Hearing test baseline for noise exposure and lung function test where employees may have been or may be exposed to fumes, dust, solvents and/or dangerous airborne particles. A section on Crystalline Silica Exposure is also addressed (see Health Monitoring for more information).

Hearing tests meet compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015.

    3. Complete a Crystalline Silica Exposure Questionnaire, if exposed to dust, dirt, concrete, stonework, in previous roles.

    1. Cardiovascular assessment - blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, heart rate, cholesterol screening – for cardiovascular disease, blood glucose screening for diabetes.

    2. Vision screening - Snellen chart to check visual acuity, near and distant vision, peripheral vision, Ishihara test for color blindness.
